Dream a Waking Dream

The author of Hebrews tells us:
"Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart."
- Hebrews 12:1-3

One way to think of that "race marked out for us" is as the particular and specific vision or dream that God intends for each of us individually. While its true that we all have one grand calling to love God and love other people, bringing glory to Jesus, we each also have very different gifts, talents, abilities, personalities, passions and life experiences, as well as a unique purpose, our piece of God's grand puzzle.

The truth is, very few people I know would ever say they have realized their dreams. Yet, I believe God intends for each of us to fully realize and achieve the dreams He has placed in us hearts, the race marked out before us. Why is that and how can we improve our chances of actually realizing our life dreams? Over the next several days I'll be sharing several thoughts about that.

For today, let me just assure you that you have it in you to dream. You absolutely do! Even if you haven't exercised that ability in a long time. God placed the ability to dream within each and every one of us. Some have more practice than others, pay more attention to that yearning than others, but you can develop the imagination needed to dream, to see your preferred future in your mind’s eye. I believe God wants us to dream, and to dream big, because He's a big God who wants to do big things and He wants to do them through us.

I'm Still Stepping out of the boat! Are you? Remember, whatever God has called you to do, youCAN do it .... IF you WILL!
